Wire sawing is a concrete cutting technique that’s often used to cut large sections of concrete, such as walls, pipes, bridges and other thick or load-bearing concrete structures.
A diamond wire saw utilises a high-tensile cable made of metal or wire, embedded at regular intervals with synthetic diamond segments that wit within steel rings or beads. With wire sawing, the cut itself is created by the diamonds.
The wire is threaded through a system of pulleys, which are rigged to align the wire and enable it to cut in the desired direction. Once the wires are wrapped around the cutting object and the saw is turned on, the pulleys spring into action, pulling the wire through the concrete and maintaining tensile pressure to produce a precise cut.
Concrete wire sawing is often the go-to method for cutting large areas of thick concrete, such as concrete walls or pipes, large pillars or barriers, load-bearing objects and bridges.
